The visit in Samegrelo in order to reveal IDPs’ problems On 17 July, 2013, the representatives of “Women’s Information Center”, with human rights observer of UN Women and community worker of Taso Foundation, have visited Samegrelo region, IDPs and conflict affected people living in the villages of Koki, Anaklia, Orsantia and Khurcha.
The aim of the visit was to study problematic issues of IDPs’ for consultation meeting of “one window”, which will be held on 7 August, in the municipality of Zugdidi. The representatives of central and local government, who are decision makers about some problematic issues, will attend the meeting. The biggest problems are difficult living conditions. People living in poverty aren’t even able to solve easiest problems because of the lack of material resources and information. Unorganized personal documentations, life-threatening environment because of reptiles, difficult health condition, insufficient food- these are some of IDPs’ problems.
The visit was held in the frame of the project” Women for peace and development”, which is implemented by UN Women with the partnership with Women’s Information Center and Taso Foundation , with the support of the government of Norway.
