From 31 until 3 September was held the training in the frame of the project “Women for Equality, Peace and Development” and its main topic was “UN SCR 1325 and its implementation on local level”. The representatives of local self-governments of the regions Zugdidi and Samtredia have attended the training, as well as community workers of “Taso” Foundation from same regions.
The participators were informed about UN SCR 1325 and 2012-2015 National Action Plan. Community workers have presented the problems of villages, needs and problems of women and girls, living in these regions were also revealed.
One part of training has been dedicated to the review of the definition of gender, the issue of public information and “one window shop principle” methodology.
The project “Women for Equality, Peace and Development in Georgia” is implemented with the support of the government of Norway, by UN Women with the partnership with Women’s Information Center and “Taso” Foundation. The project aims to support IDPS, conflict affected and national minorities women, civil society and the government, and also, to strengthen their possibilities in order to protect women’s rights and gender equality in Georgia.
