Sadakhlo is one of the largest villages in the municipality of Marneuli. 13 000 residents of the village work in agriculture. The village is situated near the border of Armenia.
The representatives of UN Women, Women’s Information Center and Taso Foundation visited 2nd school of Sadakhlo. They have met local population and discussed social problems. It has revealed, that main problem of women, living in this region, is the fact that they have no kindergartens. The village has also water problem, they have drinking water only during 2 hours per day. Population has no information about universal insurance state program. By the initiative of UN Women, consultation center has been opened in the city of Marneuli, which will hold legal consultations for locals. The project “Women for Equality, Peace and Development in Georgia” is implemented by UN Women with the partnership of Women’s Information Center and “Taso” Foundation. The aim of the project is to support IDPs, conflict affected and national minority women’s groups, civil society and the government and to strengthen their possibilities in order to protect women’s rights and gender equality in Geogia.
