Implementation of National Action Plan on UNSCR 1325 in Georgia

On December 2, in Radisson hotel, Gender Equality Council of the Parliament, summarized activities under National Action Plan performed by National Coordination Group, with technical support of UN Women.


At the meeting, reports of activities implemented by the state authorities forming part of coordination group in June-November of 2013 under the Action Plan on UNSCR 1325 were presented.


Meeting was opened by Manana Kobakhidze, the chairman of Gender Equality Council of the Parliament and Erika Kvapilova, representative of UN Women.


Gender Equality Council of the Parliament created national working group with technical support of UN Women in 2011. Group consists of representatives of state authorities, public broadcaster and civil sector.

At the meeting, Women’s Information Center presented a report of activities performed within this period. Tamar Kantaria, community worker of Taso Foundation, spoke and outlined problems of local community.


National Coordination Group is in close cooperation with Gender Equality Council of the Parliament, UN Women and other local or international organizations, in order to implement National Action Plan for 2012-2015 in accordance with UN Security Council Resolutions #1325, 1820, 1888, 1889 and 1960 on “Women, Peace and Security”.
