Women’s Information Center, with the support of US Agency for International Development (USAID), is starting implementation of the project “Women as agents for change and empowerment”. The first event within the framework of the project was held in one of the target regions – Samtskhe-Javakheti, in particular – Borjomi, on 5 March. Meeting aimed at introducing project’s main objectives and scheduled activities to the local self-government, as well as to the representatives of organizations and media based in the region.
Representatives of Women’s Information Center, Taso Foundation, Association of Young Economists of Georgia, local government, media and civil society, as well as Villages Trustees participated in the meeting.
Project is being implemented in Tbilisi, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kakheti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti and Gali regions by Women’s Information Center, with the support of US Agency for International Development (USAID), and in cooperation with Taso Foundation, Association of Young Economists of Georgia, Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) and women’s NGO “Avangard” based in Gali district. The project is aimed at promoting women’s political participation, as well as social and economical empowerment, by mobilizing community, and based on research of local needs in target regions.
