Prime-Minister Grigol Abashidze submitted resignation, explaining his decision by health problems. President assigned Nikoloz Gilauri, who until recently was Minister of Finances, to hold the office. Prime-Minister presented his “new” Cabinet, in which vacant position of the Minister of Finances will be occupied by Kakha Baindurashvili, recently working as a deputy Minister. All other ministers will save their positions.
In accordance with acting legislation of Georgia, in case Prime-Minister submits resignation, President presents the whole Cabinet of Ministers to the Parliament for the approval.
During today session Parliament continued discussion about approval of the new Cabinet. Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Chairwoman of the Advisory Parliamentary Council on Gender Issues Ms. Rusudan Kervalishvili took the floor during the session. Ms. Rusudan Kervalishvili underlined problem of absence of female ministers, she also asked Mr. Gilauri about his plans with given regard. There is no concrete answer to the question yet, however it is important that it had been raised.
