With the initiative of UN Women, two days meeting was held in Anaklia, which has been attended by IDP and conflict affected women from cross border villages of Samegrelo and the region of Gali. The representatives of CBOs working in conflict zone have also attended the meeting.
The topic of the meeting was women, peace and security, women’s role in the processes of peace building, particular attention has been paid to national action plan (NAP) of UN SCR 1325.
The needs and problems of women, living in conflict zone have also been discussed. The representatives of Women’s Information Center have also participated in the meeting.
The organizers have shown a film about the women, living in conflict zone. Dato Turashvili has been the facilitator of the meeting, which has presented the examples of equality from the past of Georgia.
The institute for War and Peace Reporting is the partner of Un Women. Represented organizations, working about women’s needs and problems are planning to work further in this field.
