Women’s Information Center Arranges Summer Peace Camp for Rural Women

August 29 – September 3, 2014 – hotel Oasis Chakvi, Georgia. Women’s Information Center is arranging summer peace camp in the framework of the project “Women as Agents for Change and Empowerment”. Rural women – community workers from project target regions will participate in the event. Camp is aimed at empowering rural leader women and assisting them in acquiring skills to improve their activities.


Trainings, as well as film screening and discussions will be held for participants. In the framework of the training, participants will get familiar with the basics of gender and women’s rights, existing legislative framework and international commitment of Georgia. They will also deepen their knowledge and acquire practical skills in leadership, teamwork, public relations and communications.


Trainings will be conducted by the trainers of Women’s Information Center and invited experts.

 

 

About the project “Women as agents for change and empowerment”

Project is being implemented in Tbilisi, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kakheti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti and Gali regions, by Women’s Information Center, with the support of US Agency for International Development (USAID), and in cooperation with Taso Foundation, Association of Young Economists of Georgia, Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) and women’s organization based in Gali district. The project is aimed at promoting women’s political participation, as well as political and economical empowerment by mobilizing community, based on research of local needs in target regions.
