Draft Law on Gender Equality

Category: Gender policy
2010-01-20

Draft Law on Gender Equality, initiated by the Member of Parliament of Georgia Ms. Rusudan Kervalishvili was considered during the first Parliamentary hearings.
“For years there were different approaches towards the issues mentioned; in the history of Georgia we do not find any gender related problem as Georgian men and women used to be equal. The State is obliged to secure equal opportunities to every citizen and develop conditions for a Gender-equal Society”, stated Mr. Giorgi Khuroshvili, Parliamentary secretary. He added that there are some details regarding institutional arrangement that need to be specified in cooperation with the Author before the second hearings take place.
