Women's Fund in Georgia in partnership with the Urgent Action Fund (UAF) announces the Rapid Response Grantmaking (RRG) Program, which provides timely small grants to support strategic interventions that take advantage of opportunities to advance women's human rights anywhere in the world. Such opportunities arise when an unexpected event - positive or negative - creates a situation in which rapid intervention can have a significant impact.
Women's Fund in Georgia in partnership with the Urgent Action Fund (UAF) announces the Rapid Response Grantmaking (RRG) Program, which provides timely small grants to support strategic interventions that take advantage of opportunities to advance women's human rights anywhere in the world. Such opportunities arise when an unexpected event - positive or negative - creates a situation in which rapid intervention can have a significant impact.
Eligible groups for RRG Program are women's rights organizations and individual activists who are affiliated with one of the women's organizations working in the country.
Rapid Response Grantmaking Program provides support in the following three categories:
• Response to armed conflict, escalating violence or politically volatile environments • Potentially precedent-setting legal or legislative actions, or actions that aim to protect a precedent that has already been set • Protection and security of women human rights defenders Grants must meet ALL of the following four criteria: • Unanticipated and Time-urgent - the action is in response to an unanticipated event outside the control of the group, and will take advantage of a small window in time (3 months or less) during which an intervention would have significant impact • Strategic - the action is related to a pre-determined plan to create structural change that will advance women's human rights • Sustainable - the group is able to carry out the action effectively and secure funding for future work related to the action • Supported - the group has the support of others involved in the women's human rights or related fields, locally or globally Rapid Response Grantmaking Program cannot provide support for: • Individuals who are not affiliated with women's organizations • Pre-planned or long-term projects (more than 3 months) • Humanitarian aid or development projects • Male-led organizations • Bridge funding
RRG Grant amount ranges from 500 to 1 500 USD. The project period is limited to 3 months.
Women's Fund in Georgia will respond to all applicants in 72 hours and will make decisions about funding no later than in a week. Upon request, the information provided in the proposal will remain confidential.
Proposals will be accepted on a regular basis throughout the year 2010 and there are no deadlines for the RRG Program.
