The Minister of Refugees and Accommodation of Georgia Koba Subeliani meets IDPs on a daily basis. Today the Minister held a meeting with the IDPs from Abkhazia residing in the former sanatorium building “Geologi” in Tskaltubo. He inspected ongoing rehabilitated activities.

138 IDP families (352 persons) have been living for 17 years in the mentioned sanatorium. Roofing activities are ongoing, sewage and water supply systems are currently being changed. Rehabilitation activities will be finished within two weeks period. It is planned to rehabilitate 16 buildings in Tskaltubo.

During the meeting with the Minister, IDPs mentioned that they will live in dignified conditions after finishing the rehabilitation activities.

Rezo Benidze, IDP from Abkhazia: “Roof has been leaking for 17 years. Sewerage system was damaged and blocked very often, the distance between sewerage water and electrical wires was about 10 centimeters and we were extremely scared of fire. We planned to write a letter to Koba Subeliani but he found out about our problem and personally visited us. Rehabilitation activities are already commenced and the problem will be solved in a few days. We are very grateful.”

The Minister mentioned during the meeting with the IDPs that activities are implemented step by step: “Roof of this building was damaged by the storm. The roofing activities are ongoing, simultaneously we repair sewage system. When the sewage system related problems are solved we will provide the IDPs with better conditions. The same activities will be carried out for the IDPs residing in this building as it was carried out in the other regions, namely in Kutaisi, Khoni and Kopitnari IDP settlements. We plan to continue the same way until we provide all IDPs with the dignified living conditions.”
