Georgia's Public Defender and NGOs active in the field of children's rights protection signed a memorandum of cooperation. Taking into consideration the Constitution of Georgia, the Georgian legislation, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the international agreements and covenants in the field of children's rights protection, which are in force for Georgia, and the obligations taken by Georgia before the international organizations working in the field of children’s rights, by creating the present forum of cooperation the parties seek to strengthen the beneficial cooperation between the Center for Children and Women's Right at the Public Defender's Office of Georgia and the civil society. The parties aim at creating a forum of cooperation of the organizations active in the area of children's rights in order to ensure the protection of children's rights and freedoms.

At the initial stage, the memorandum of cooperation has been signed by 23 organizations.

The cooperation between the parties will be carried out through consultations, discussions, exchange of opinions and information, seminars and conferences, a special electronic forum, and other means acceptable for and agreed by the parties. The meeting of the forum of the organizations active in children's rights protection was attended by an expert in children's rights, the former Ombudsman for Children of Catalonia, Xavier Bonal, who was invited by the UN Children's Fund.
