On June 3, there was held one window consultation meeting at the conference hall of Gori Municipality. The meeting was organized by Women’s Information Center (WIC). It was aimed at discussing and solving problems of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and conflict-affected people living in Shida Kartli region.
The meeting was held in the framework of the project “Women for Equality, Peace and Development on Georgia” Supported by the Government of Norway. The project is being implemented by United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), Women’s Information Center (WIC) and “Taso” Foundation with support of Government of Norway.
Twenty (20) cases were discussed at the meeting both individual and general problems of community. The cases were presented by the IDPs and conflict-affected persons themselves. While considering each case, representatives of different structures found solution to the problems.
Attendees of the meeting were representative of local government structures, who were responsible for settling problems of internally displaced and conflict affected persons. In particular, Manana Champuridze, head of the Shida Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti regional department of the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation, Kakha Toliashvili - head of the administration at Gori Municipality Board, Zurab Chkhaidze – a deputy governor, Vasil Tandiashvili – head of Social Department of the Gori Municipality Board, Diana Beridze – deputy head of the social service agency, Malkhaz Gochashvili – head of the health and social programs agency, Giorgi Sosiashvili – Head of the Gori Education Resource Centre, Kakha Mosiashvili - head of PR department of Energo-Pro, Gori.
The cases were about the following issues: restoration of damaged houses, past electricity taxes, financial support to urgent operations, providing medicaments etc. Kakha Toliashvili, head of the administration at Gori Municipality Board, stated: “Main daily activities that are conducted by the Gori Municipality Board deals with internally displaced and conflict-affected persons, taking care of them and solving their problems. In the process of achieving good results sectoral cooperation is very important.” He mentioned importance of the project “Women for Equality, Peace and Development” for Georgia and expressed his readiness for the future cooperation and active interaction.
Conducting “One Window” meetings is being continued in the following territorial units: Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi and Zugdidi. |
