In the framework of the program “legal clinic” of Tbilisi Georgian-American University round table was held titled as: “Rights of disabled people: existed conditions and perspectives”.
The meeting was opened by Mr. R. Michael Cowgill, president of The Georgian-American University, Mr. Zaza Rukhadze, dean of the School of Law and Mrs. Marina Kvachakhidze, program director.
Speeches were made by representatives of different NGOs: Women’s’ Information Center (WIC), GYLA, Article 42 of the Constitution, organisation “Confidence”, Center for Human Rights, Association “Right for Health”, “Leaders for democracy”. They talked about role of their own organisation in protecting rights of disabled people as well as singled out problems of different groups of disabled people.
It is remarkable, that students of Georgian-American University presented their reports about conditions of disabled persons in different countries (USA, Europe and Russia). |
