The president of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Mevlud Chavishoglu and the members of the delegation visited Tserovani. The guests inspected IDP settlement, held a meeting with the IDPs and mentioned that within the frames of possibility they will assist IDPs to return back to their places of origin.

The Minister of Refugees and Accommodation of Georgia Koba Subeliani hosted the EU delegation in Tserovani. The minister showed them photos of August war results. The minister informed them how the new settlements were constructed for the IDPs, what conditions they used to live in, how the government assisted IDPs with the support of donors and the partner countries.

The president of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Mevlud Chavishoglu was satisfied with the living conditions of IDPs, though he mentioned that IDPs have to return back to their native land: “IDPs cannot stay here forever. They should return back to their houses. Parliamentary assembly pays special attention to the humanitarian results of the war; this issue should be solved without politicization. The obligations should be carried out by each party. It is required to carry out resolutions of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. It is important for international humanitarian organizations and observers to move freely on the occupied territories.”

As per the Minister of Refugees and Accommodation of Georgia Koba Subeliani’s statement it is very important for the EU parliamentary assembly to be principal with Russia: “The main message to the delegation from us and the population is to have principal positions while holding negotiations with Russia and while reviewing implementation of the resolutions. The delegation members saw themselves what activities were implemented by us with the support of the donor organizations and partner countries. We carry out our obligations, it is important to be principal with Russia when they are breaching rules which occur on a daily basis. It is also important to return IDPs to their native land.”

The president of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Mevlud Chavishoglu expressed his gratitude towards donor organizations for implementing various activities for the IDPs.
