Nana Iluridze is gender adviser of local self-government. Gori is first of the municipalities to introduce such position. Before, she was working as a specialist of the Assembly, now she works actively in the field of gender issues, gets information about international practice. In October, she will participate in the conference in London. Gender adviser tells, that this position is great responsibility for her.

The municipality of Gori has made this decision after the recommendation of Women’s Information Center. David Razmadze tells, that among the members of the Assembly, only 10% are women. He thinks, that the main result of the work of gender adviser, will be to balance this inequality.
The organizations, working about gender issues welcome the existence of such position in local self-government  and think, that Gori has to serve as an example for other municipalities. After Gori, the municipality of Zugdidi also plans to introduce gender adviser with the recommendation of Women’s Information Center.

As the initiators of this idea tell, further work in this field will improve the situation of gender equality in local self-governments.
