Meeting with Representatives of Government of Gori on Women’s Issues

NGOs working on women’s needs met with Gori majoritarian and Governor of the Municipality. They talked to local government representatives about questions of present interest, which they encounter working on women’s issues. In particular, topics of oncologic diseases and everyday problems of persons living near occupational line were outlined.

Meeting was held by the initiative of “Woman and Development” organization.In addition to women’s needs, at the meeting were mentioned other problematic issues that are characteristic for the region, including idea of opening of waste treatment plant, which will be lobbied by the part of graduates of democracy schools, under one of the projects.

Government expressed support to ideas mentioned at the meeting. In their opinion, arrangement of such meetings will help in solving problems in timely manner.

In the end, host and attendees of the meeting noted that meeting with Government will become permanent and they will ensure also monitoring of activities implemented by them.
