Women’s Information Center conducts trainings for gender advisors

Georgia, Kakheti, hotel Chateau Mere”, January 8-11 – Women’s Information Center together with British charity organization Oxfam and the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia conducts training for gender advisors. Training includes important issues, such as concept of gender, gender equality, gender stereotypes, gender mainstreaming, gender equality action plan, national and international obligations, institutional mechanisms, gender budgeting, etc.


Gender advisor’s position was introduced in 2013, by the initiative of Women’s Information Center and “Coalition for Women’s Political Participation”. Initiative was supported by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia. Gender advisors have been appointed, with the recommendation and support of the ministry, in 39 districts of Georgia.
Introduction of gender advisor’s position was initiated under the project “Promoting gender equality through women’s political engagement”.
 

Project “Promoting gender equality through women’s political engagement”

Project is being implemented by Women’s Information Center, with the support of Georgian office of British charity organization Oxfam. Project is aimed at increase of women’s engagement in political life of country. “Coalition for Women’s Political Participation” was created in July 2013 under this project.
