Trainings will be held within the framework of the project “Women as agents for change and empowerment”

Women’s Information Center, with the support of US Agency for International Development (USAID), has started implementation of the project “Women as agents for change and empowerment”. One of the main objectives of the project is to engage women in political life, activate women, who are willing to participate in politics and provide them with adequate trainings.

From 30 April till 2 May in Telavi, in the hotel Chateau Mere, trainings for women, who are willing to participate in local elections 2014 will be held. Women candidates from all target regions of the project will attend trainings. Participants will deepen their knowledge and skills in gender, gender stereotypes, norms, equality and mainstreaming, current legislation, forms of communication, PR strategies and conduction of election campaign.
Trainings are held with the support of Central Election Commission. Representative of the Commission will introduce participants to election procedures.

 

About the project “Women as agents for change and empowerment”

Project is being implemented in Tbilisi, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kakheti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti and Gali regions, by Women’s Information Center, with the support of US Agency for International Development (USAID), and in cooperation with Taso Foundation, Association of Young Economists of Georgia, Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) and women’s organization based in Gali district. The project is aimed at promoting women’s political participation and political and economical empowerment by mobilizing community, and based on research of local needs in target regions.
