In Georgia's self-governmental bodies less women will be presented than it was after 2010 elections

2014-05-09

According to the data received from Central Election Commission on 8 May, 4 mayoral candidates are registered inTbilisi, with only 1 female candidate among them; there are 2 candidates for Gamgebeli - both male; 2 mayoral candidates in self-governing cities – both male. Among 21 candidates in majority system, which are registered by political parties or electoral block, only 3 are females. Among 1015 candidates in majority system, which are registered by initiative groups, only 115 are females. These data are already concerning, as if this tendency is maintained, chances are high that in newly elected self-governmental bodies even fewer women will be presented than it was after 2010 elections.
