Three day training will be conducted on “Integrating Gender Equality and Women, Peace and Security Principles into the Security Sector”

The military and civilian personnel of the Ministry of Defence will under go a special training on integrating Gender Perspectives and Women, Peace and Security Agenda into the Security Sector.

The training will be opened on 21st May by Deputy Minister of Defence, Tamar Karosanidze, Deputy Chair of the Parliament, Chair of the Gender Equality Council of the Parliament, Manana Kobakhidze and Irakli Sesiashvili, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence. Tamar Karosanidze and Manana Kobakhidze will talk about the objectives of the training and its implication to mainstream gender into security sector.

The Deputy Head of NATO Liaison Office in Georgia, Kristina Baleisyte, UN Women  Representative in Georgia,Erika Kvapilova and Elene Rusetski, Director of the NGO Women’s Information Center will welcomeparticipants of the training and will emphasize the linkages between gender and security sector.

The training participants will familiarize during three days with the UN Security Council Resolution #1325 on Women, Peace and Security and issues related to integration of gender equality principles into the security sector.


The training is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence, National Defence Academy, NATO Liaison Office in Georgia,UN Womenand Women’s Information Center.
