Women’s Information Center Demands GDS Apologize

Women’s Information Center demands TV Company GDS apologize for the TV show “Bina 18” aired on 9 of July. The organization also calls upon GDS management to take adequate measures against creative team of the show, where woman’s body was used as a musical instrument.

 

“While Georgian Government was making in the United Nations presentation of the report on implementation of commitments and work performed under the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women, the TV show containing discriminative elements against women was aired by the Georgian television”, - says the letter distributed by Women’s Information Center.

 


According to the organization, media plays an important role in terms of formation of public opinion and its direct obligation is to promote correct attitudes toward different issues. While the coverage of this kind of topics assists to strengthening gender stereotypes and women’s discrimination.
