The Women’s Fund in Georgia, together with the Artisterium Association, is launching a project–“HerHome” – aimed at supporting homeless single mothers. The project entails organizing an exhibition-sale of accessories, furniture and other decorative items used for interior design. We plan to set up an “exhibit-room” with the collected interior design items that will be sold during a 3-day exhibition at Europe House Georgia. By purchasing an item for your home, you are supporting those who do not have homes of their own.

All contributions from the sales will be used to support a group of homeless women who live in unbearable conditions in an old hospital and suffer from multiple discrimination.

On May 17, 2013, Georgian government amended the document on “reducing the poverty and protecting socially vulnerable people,” according to which, people who illegally live in the state-owned buildings are not registered in the database as socially vulnerable people. As a result, socially vulnerable families are left without state support or any other financial assistance which negatively affects their economic and social state.

WFG aims to support homeless single mothers in order to enable them to become competitive in a job market, reduce poverty and improve their living conditions.

Degree of visibility of these families in society is low; thus, the project aims to collect certain amount from the sales for their support, widely publicize their problems and create platform for getting additional resources for the cause in future.

Exhibition-Sale will be held on July 18/19/20 at Europe House Georgia
