The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation, hereafter Kvinna till Kvinna (“Woman to Woman”), is a Swedish women’s, peace and development organization. Kvinna till Kvinna supports women during times of war and conflict to increase women’s power and influence. Empowerment of women increases women’s opportunities and abilities to make choices to improve their lives as well as their societies.

 

Kvinna till Kvinna supports local women’s organizations in conflict regions through core and activity support and capacity development activities. We collaborate with women's organizations that play an active part in peace and rebuilding processes. By supporting women’s organizations, Kvinna till Kvinna aspires to promote participation of women in all areas of society. We believe that our partner organizations have the knowledge and awareness of the local problems and needs, and therefore are best suited to address them. Our partner organizations plan and implement projects based on their hands-on needs assessments and analyses.

 

Kvinna till Kvinna cooperates with more than 130 women’s organizations in the following regions: Central and Western Africa; the Middle East; the Western Balkans and the South Caucasus. Kvinna till Kvinna has cooperated with women's organizations in the South Caucasus since 2002.
The Project Officer would work with a project funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which aims to support women’s political participation and increasing the security of women’s rights defenders in the South Caucasus. 
Tasks:

 

The Project Officer (PO) will be part of the FLOW project  team  and will report to the appointed Field Representative (FR). The position will be based in Tbilisi, Georgia with frequent travel to either Armenia or Azerbaijan and possibly abroad. 

 

The PO will work in close cooperation with other team members but will independently assess applications and reports from the partner organizations, conduct visits to the organizations, monitor activities, organize exchanges, study trips, network meetings and other capacity development activities in the framework of the project . The PO will also be involved in reviewing news and following the political and social development in the region (either Armenia or Azerbaijan depending on language skills), preparing  reports to donors, country analysis and similar. Communications and advocacy work is part of the team’s mandate, often in close collaboration with Kvinna till Kvinna’s Communications department in Stockholm. The position also includes administrative duties.

 

The PO is responsible in cooperation with the FR that the organization’s activities in the region are carried out and developing according to working methods, strategies, policies and goals of Kvinna till Kvinna. The PO is involved in developing and implementing the work of Kvinna till Kvinna in the South Caucasus. The PO will participate in regional meetings as well as meetings at the head office in Stockholm. The PO is expected to bring in perspective from her knowledge of South Caucasus.

 

Qualifications: 

- Commenced or completed degree in Social or Political sciences is mandatory, and gender, peace and/or development studies are considered a strong advantage
- Relevant working experience from similar organisation 
- Own experience from work or voluntary engagement in civil society organisation and/or women's political activities
- Interest in gender equality issues, women’s empowerment, women human rights defenders’ security and/or peace building
- Experience of assessing proposals and experience in developing capacity for civil society organizations
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office word, excel and outlook
- Experience of administrative and economic work tasks
- Experience in working as a trainer and/or facilitator is desired 
- Experience from both independent work and teamwork
- Good knowledge of the cultural, political and socio-economic context in Georgia, Armenia and/or Azerbaijan
- Proficiency in English and Russian is mandatory and knowledge in Georgian, Azeri and/or Armenian an advantage   
- Responsiveness, and ability to handle stressful situations and work periods
- Open minded, sensitive and willing to work with groups of different cultural and gender identities 
- Appreciate working in a international environment
- Driver's license and good driving experience is an advantage

 

Due to the character of the work only women applicants will be considered.

 

Terms of employment:  Temporary position on full-time until 31 December 2015 with possibility of prolongation.  The position is subject to 6 months probation period.
