Women’s Information Center will present report on media monitoring and award representatives of media

Georgia, Tbilisi, 28 November 2014, Friday, 11:00am-Radisson Blu Iveria hotel. Media monitoring was conducted in the framework of the project “Women as Agents for Change and Empowerment” and covers the period of local elections 2014. Its main purpose was to reveal how the media was presenting women candidates and in which extent air was given to their pre-election programme.

 

Monitoring was implemented by the Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethic, upon the request and support of Women's Information Center.
In the end of presentation, award ceremony of media representatives will be held. Awards will be granted to media outlets and journalists, which gave special attention to gender issues in their work.

 

 

About project “Women as Agents for Change and Empowerment”

 

Project is supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development _ USAID and implemented by Women’s Information Center in partnership with Taso Foundation, Association of Young Economists of Georgia, and Institute for War and Peace Reporting, in Tbilisi, Mtskheta-mtianeti, Kakheti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti and Gali regions. Project aims are promoting women’s engagement in politics, as well as their social and economic empowerment through mobilization of community and research of local needs in target regions.
