Embassy of Sweden announces the new training program "Local Political Leaders-Capacitating Women in Politics" 2015

Program Objectives
The main objective of the International Training Program (ITP) "Local Political Leaders-capacitating women in politics" is therefore to focus on elected women leaders in the selected countries. The expected result of this program is to promote a higher degree of involvement of women in politics at the local level. The program rests on the assumption that strengthening the capacity of the selected candidates and strengthening the networks among them are important steps in achieving a higher degree of involvement of women in politics.
Language Requirements
The training program will be organized and conducted in English. Candidates from countries where English is not an official language should do a language test with an official body in the home country, unless other documentation to support for her/his ability can be provided. Proficiency in English shall be certified on the Application form.
Target group
The program is directed towards elected officials who are nominated to represent their citizens in a local government body, both legislative and executive.
Cost of Participation
The International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) will cover the following costs: • The participation fee and the accommodation costs including board and lodging; • International travel to and from Sweden; • International travel in connection with the second phase of the program.
