Category: IDP Georgia
2015-07-30

On 30th July 2015, the 57th meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Ergneti, co-facilitated by Kęstutis Jankauskas, the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), and Ambassador Angelo Gnaedinger, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus.

The co-facilitators appreciated the fact that calm had prevailed since the Extraordinary IPRM of 20th July and that effective use was made of the Hotline. Participants from both sides discussed various cases of detentions and the fate of persons previously reported missing, as well as a shooting incident at the ABL. The imminent release of a Georgian prisoner on medical grounds from detention in Tskhinvali was announced and welcomed by the participants and the co-facilitators.

The participants committed themselves to use the Hotline to exchange information, in particular regarding the management of the irrigation system for the benefit of the local population.

The next IPRM meeting will take place on 23rd September.
