Early marriage bill already passed in the first reading

The bill regarding the marriage of 16-year-old girls has already been passed in the first reading.

According to the draft, parents will not have the right to give consent to the marriage -this will be the competence of the court.

According to the author of the initiative,Tamar Kordzaia, marriage of persons under 18 will be banned altogether in Georgia.
