A young Georgian gymnast has stunned European spectators at the Bucharest Grand Prix of rhythmic gymnastics in Romania.

Salome Pazhava, an 18-year-old athlete who is Georgia's most successful rhythmic gymnast, won three medals at the competition - one gold and two silver.

Pazhava won gold in the individual final of the rhythmic gymnastics competition using clubs.

She infused her routine with several traditional movements from the Georgian national dance style Rachuli and amazed spectators with her energetic performance.

She received a final score of 19.000 and gained first place.

The Georgian gymnast scored 18.500 in the individual competition using a hoop and gained second place behind a Belarusian competitor whose score was only 0.5 points higher than Pazhava’s.

The gymnast gained her second silver medal for an impressive performance using a ribbon. Pazhava scored 18.700 in this discipline.

She also competed with a ball and in this discipline she placed fifth with a score of 18.050.

The Bucharest Grand Prix was organised by the Romanian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation and took place from May 13-15.

Pazhava recently qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
