To increase youth participation in counter-trafficking projects IOM Mission in Ukraine organized an International Youth Conference “Youth against human trafficking.” The conference took place in Kyiv (Ukraine) on May 13-15, 2009. About the conference: Students and young activists were invited to participate in the International Student Conference “Youth Against Human Trafficking,” which focused on leadership, community involvement, volunteer work and understanding the modern-day phenomenon of trafficking. During the three-day event, participants from different countries learned more about youth counter-trafficking work, participated in presentations and interactive workshops facilitated by recognized experts from the leading development organizations and companies, and learn from each other’s hands-on experience. Among the experts was Gavin Ugale _ Key-note speaker and Project Design and Management workshop facilitator. Eligibility Students enrolled in full-time University programs were encouraged to apply. Application was open for students from Ukraine, CIS, EU, Balkan States and Turkey. Strong English language skills were required as it was the working language of the conference. Interest in volunteer work, community leadership and previous experience of anti-trafficking work were an asset.
