How to help more effectively the victims of domestic violence in Georgia?

In Adjara, in Chaqvi, was held training for social workers in the framework of UNIFEM Trust Fund’s project “Interdepartmental and public measures to combat domestic violence in Georgia: United forces demanding the rule of law about domestic violence.”

The project is carried out by five non-governmental organizations:

 International Center for Women’s Education and Information
  Women’s Information Center
  Dynamic Psychology for Development and Democracy
 Samtskhe-Javakheti Democratic Women’s Society
 Women’s Hope

The purpose of the training is to raise the skills of the social workers working on domestic violence victims’ issues in Georgia.

Social workers and representatives of non-governmental organizations from the different regions of Georgia attended the two-days-long seminars about domestic violence issue that was conducted by the experts from Tbilisi.

Participants of the training discussed the role and functions of social workers, positive and negative sides in their activities. They shared their practical experience about working with victims to the audience.

While discussion many interesting ideas and initiatives were displayed by the participants. There was held discussion about domestic violence at the meeting, the problem that might be called a sensitive point for Georgian society and that still remains unsolved.
